Stop Murdering Innocent Black People, Assholes

This blog post is prompted by an interaction I had on twitter this morning. I was told to change things with my white privilege. I mentioned being sad because I read a comment in which a woman lumped all white people together saying they don’t care and they enjoy these types of things, like the violence in Chicago. Of course a tweet isn’t long enough to explain everything going on in your brain. My tweet came across like I was sad for myself when I read the tweet; that is not the case. I am sad for this country. I don’t see any way out of this mess.

These senseless murders keep happening and the murderers are not being held accountable. This perpetuates racism in multiple ways. As with the woman’s tweet, she sees all white people as being one. What else is she to think though? This country has a base of institutionalized racism. These white asshole cops keep going free along with other assholes whose names don’t deserve a place on my blog. The racist people in the country seeing all these people going free likely feel empowered and even protected if they do something horrendous like this.

I want these murders to stop. Not only are they ruining the lives of the victims’ families, they are also ruining lives of all Black people in the U.S. I already don’t feel safe with all the shootings that have been happening recently, but I cannot imagine the extra threat of death by someone who is being paid to supposedly protect me and my family.

I want these murderers to be held accountable. What can I do with my white privilege to change a system that is broken? The supreme court just gave more power to cops. When this article mentions warrant, that can even be for parking violations, which people in low-income areas might not be able to pay. Who mostly lives in low-income areas? Exactly.

I want to be able to stop this from happening, but I do not know what to do. I stay informed with online news and I listen to KJLH (The Front Page) for real information. I sign so many petitions; some work, but of course petitions relating to police accountability etc. are ignored.. That is how I found out about Darren Rainey’s murder (**don’t read the next part if you don’t want to be pissed and/or distraught**) by being trapped in a shower with scalding hot water. Note on this article another prisoner had to clean the shower afterward and he saw skin on the ground. But of course his death was ruled accidental and they claim there were no burns on his body.

I do want to know what else I can do to help change the system that is so fucked right now. I wrote about institutionalized racism on my CSET and I actually had the thought that they might not like that since teachers are supposed to keep their opinions to themselves (but of course I see it as fact). Other than doing the above and not raising my child to be a racist asshole, I truly feel helpless in this mess. I’ve longed for us to have another March on Washington; if everyone who is pissed off at the system could afford to go, it would be so amazing. There needs to be a change. It needs to be now. The latest murderer needs to be convicted. This needs to stop happening.

Here are names that deserve a place on my blog:

names

Alton Sterling = there better fucking be a conviction

Update 7/7:

WHY IN THE FUCK AM I HAVING TO ADD ANOTHER NAME TO THIS LIST!

Philando Castile = THIS NEEDS TO STOP

I read he was pulled over for a broken taillight. I also saw a picture of his car that showed both taillights working.

Please watch this if you have time. An African American female officer telling it like it is.

Quotes from Elie Wiesel (a Holocaust survivor):

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.
There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.

  1. As I mentioned on Twitter, Walter Scott might be one of the first to see his killer have a conviction. The trial starts in October.

The problem, in the case of cops shooting black people, involves a level of racism that hides behind the “blue wall”. Police officers refuse to admit fault and always stand by their own in case this happens to them. They always blame the victim, and never them. They refuse to admit that they are just as human as any civilian. They are not perfect. They make mistakes, even if it’s on purpose due to who they have just used their gun on being a different race or color. I’m sick of these killings happening.

The change happens when a judge and/or jury decides to finally convict one of them for killing. As for what we can do to stop these, I’m at a loss unless we can convince a good number of cops to stop standing in front and in defense of any of their own when this shit happens.

    • I’m glad you commented here as well. There really needs to be convictions. This shit needs to stop. I would like to say that cops just need more training in how to take a person into custody without using their gun. Even if they had more training though, the racist assholes who have such a strong fear/hate toward a person of another “race” wouldn’t pay any attention to other options. And why the fuck would there be a need to murder someone who is lying on the ground already. There is no need. That is pure hate. Ugh. It’s disgusting. I added a link to a fb video on here in case you haven’t seen it yet (of a female African American police officer speaking).
